System software is an essential component of any computer system. It is responsible for managing and controlling the hardware and other software applications installed on a computer.

There are several types of system software, including operating systems, device drivers, firmware, and utility programs. However, not all software programs can be classified as system software.

Among the following options – Word Processor, Operating System, Compiler, and Database Management System – only the Word Processor is not a system software.

An operating system is a type of system software that manages computer resources like memory allocation, task scheduling, file management, and input/output operations. It provides an interface between users and hardware components of the computer.

A compiler is a program that converts human-readable source code into machine code that can be executed by a computer’s central processing unit (CPU). It helps programmers write code in high-level programming languages like C++, Java, etc., which can be compiled into machine language instructions.

A database management system (DBMS) is another type of system software that allows users to manage data efficiently. It enables users to create databases for storing data, define fields and tables for organizing information in logical groups, and perform complex queries for retrieving specific sets of data.

On the other hand, word processors are application programs used for creating documents like letters or reports. While they may be essential productivity tools used by many people to carry out their daily tasks, they do not fall under the category of system software.

In summary, among these four options – Word Processor, Operating System, Compiler and Database Management System – only the Word Processor cannot be considered as a system software.
